Bodmin Kickstart Scheme

The Kickstart programme provides funding to employers to create new 6-month job placements for young people, aged 16–24 who are currently on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment.

As you may know, the Kickstart programme has now been changed to allow employers to apply directly online even if they have only one placement. The 30 placement minimum that was in place when the programme first launched has been removed.

When the Kickstart programme was first announced we were hoping to apply to be a Gateway for the programme but, because we were not incorporated, we were unable to participate in this way.

However, we are still keen to help local employers to participate in the Kickstart programme and give local young people the opportunities they need.  Now that we are many businesses are making their plans for recovery it is a good time to be thinking about how a young person could help you in your business.

So, we have put together a Kickstart briefing note that contains the key information employers will need to participate in the scheme that is free to anyone to download. You can also download the details of the custom training and mentoring programme that Paula at Amber Training and Consultancy put together to provide the support and training that must be delivered for every placement on the Kickstart programme.  The cost of this can be met from the £1500 payment that an employer will receive for every placement to meet set-up costs.  Using a training programme like this makes it so much easier for a small business that does not have HR and Training staff in-house to offer a placement.
